Nintendo to Discontinue Gold Points Cashback System in March 2025
Nintendo has officially announced that it will discontinue its Gold Points cashback system on March 25, 2025. From that date onwards, purchases made on the Nintendo eShop or through physical media will no longer generate Gold Points, which have been widely used as a form of digital discounts on the platform.
The My Nintendo Gold Points program was first introduced in 2018 and quickly became a favorite among Nintendo Switch players. The system allowed users to earn 5% cashback in Gold Points for digital game purchases and 1% cashback for physical media. These points could then be used as discounts when buying new games on the Nintendo eShop. However, after nearly seven years, Nintendo has decided to shut down the feature without providing specific reasons for its removal.
